The name game.

This is a game we will be playing for longer than the pregnancy, I fear. Once upon a time, which was about a year ago, J and I picked out our baby names. Madison James or Jacob Andrew. I thought we were so awesome and ahead of the game, and good to go with names that we both loved.

Fast forward to this summer, and I found out that they are both incredibly popular names (first names only that is).

Let me just say, I grew up with the number two name. And I often am called the number one name. Growing up with the most popular name, where there are three of you in your grade with that name, and your grade has less than a hundred kids, sucked. It's not that I don't like my name, I just hate how popular it is, and don't want that for my kid.

So imagine my dismay when I found out Jacob is number one and has been for YEARS, and Madison is number four and working it's way to number one rather quickly.

Which brings us to now. J still loves both of those names. He doesn't get it, because he has a not so common name, especially because of the spelling. I refuse to use either, even though I still like them. So we have been throwing around more names, but still haven't settled on anything. At this point I am convinced our baby will be nameless for the first week of its life.

My current favorite boy's name is Jameson Andrew. I love it far more than Jacob actually, and am totally set on it. J is still not sold. And a girl's name is still totally up in the air, but I do like Cailyn James or Riley James a lot.

So to the point of today's blog entry - I have started a name list. I added all the ones we like, even if only one of us likes them, to be fair. If you wouldn't mind, go ahead and let me know what you think of them!

Also to give a little background, the middle names are family names. And yes I know that James is not a girl's name, but we want to use it for our girl's middle name. Judge away :-)
