Postpartum, that is. Not only is Jamie 6 weeks old, it has been 6 weeks since I had him. And those are two very different things. I went in for my appointment yesterday, and the doc says everything looks good. Most importantly, we are cleared for the sexy time. Oh and when the doc asked what we'd be doing about birth control, he totally supported us just using condoms. Score! I was prepared to have to defend our decision. (Side note - after I realized it would have been great if I had said 'oh, you mean we can't start trying again yet?' J would totally have been all over that line.)
So. Sexy time. Let me back up a sec and tell you that I have never been one who has sex dreams. They were always few and far between for me. Until I had Jamie. I had two the first week, and have still had a bunch since then. WTF? Whatever, I will take it! BUT. It has had me really wanting the real thing. Now that I am cleared for it, I am a little nervous. If nothing else, it will happen Tuesday, since that is our anniverary. And I would like to celebrate accordingly.
So tell me, ladies who have been there. What is your best advice for the first time post-baby?
Lube! And try to relax. I was so prepared for a painful experience and it turned out fine. No pain or anything. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteTwo tips here: 1. Get as into the mood as you can so your body produces some natural lubrication. 2. lube lube lube lube. It makes it a bit more pleasant! Have fun!

ReplyDeleteIt's just like riding a bike, you'll do great! ...so I won't tell you about the first handful of times back on the horse after DD1. Tear inducing pain. It sucked. DD2 has been smooth sailing.

ReplyDeleteUse so much lube. I mean, seriously. LIke an entire bottle if you can. And take it SLOWLY because it doesn't feel so great the first time (even if you really want it!).
